A quick view of my vessel. I managed to get a couple of hours of design work done today. Lots more to go!

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog! For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Pete and I’m an electrical/electronics engineer working in the power generation industry with an unhealthy interest in robotics. As well as working closely with the Autonboat group (www.autonboat.com), I have decided to give the MicroTransAt challenge a go too!
In short, the MicroTransAt Challenge (www.microtransat.org) is an open competition in which teams create an autonomous vessel that is completely self-reliant, less than 4 metres long and powered by renewable energy sources. The route is from just off of the English coast, underneath Ireland, right across the Atlantic to the Bahamas. There is also a shorter route back the other way for competitors from the US to follow. I intend to follow this route back after completing the route to the Bahamas.
I have been designing my vessel on and off since November 2012 and will post images of it when I next switch my machine on at home.
I’ll talk more about it later, but work is calling right now.
To be continued...
